It began with an unexpectedly dry winter, with few rains and rare cold days accelerating the start of the season. A spring and early summer characterized by abundant rainfall brings us, winegrowers, to the tough test as we struggled to maintain the health of the vines in the face of optimal conditions for fungal and bacterial attacks.

The good season came in July and August, with a sweltering heat that made it difficult to work in the fields and hard on the vines, which needed water to ripen their fruit. The 26th of August marked the official start of the Sabaini grape harvest. September brought us days of bright sunshine, where the light kissed the grapes, and the cool nights created a temperature range that enhanced the aromas and flavors, transforming each bunch into a small masterpiece. The first part of October with beautiful sunny days and then the middle, end of the month with heavy rain. We could finish harvesting on the 13th of October, thanks to the excellent organization of the workforce, combined with the appropriate technique. This allowed us to finish the harvest before the heavy rains arrived. As a result, we had an excellent quality fruit.
The human effort this year was enormous. People and technology combined with excellent coordination were crucial.
As the weather became milder and the rains disappeared, we learned that constant care and dedication throughout the year were essential. Consequently, the brilliant result we obtained was the fruit of our efforts. Every stage of the vine’s growth was followed with love and attention, and that made all the difference.
